Gavel joins other stakeholders to foster impactful discussions on activism and the importance of democracy in Nigeria, particularly as it affects the youth.

Our Lagos Team was at the invitation of the National Youth Council of Nigeria for the Maiden Youth and Governance Symposium on Active and Conscientious Involvement Towards Building a Greater Nation.

Key in the discussions were the current University strikes and how students are both underrepresented and unsupported by the current governmental structure. The Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University was also present to reiterate the points made by the key speakers.

The distinguished special guest of honour was Governor Olusola Sanwo-Olu, represented by the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Oluranti Adebule, who reiterated the vitality of active involvement of the community and as individuals.

The event was specifically scheduled in light of the political tensions and the zeal for a governmental model that supports the youth’s economic, creative and political growth, irrespective of background and pedigree.
