OCCUPY LEKKI TOLL GATE PROTEST: OUR ROLE

Against the ruling of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry to reopen the Lekki Toll Gate, months after soldiers allegedly opened fire on unarmed protesters, Nigerian youths took to the street of Lagos State to gather at the Lekki Tollgate Plaza for a peaceful protest.

Tagged OccupyLekki Toll Gate, the protest which started at about 7:00 am on the 13th of February, 2021 was unfortunately faced with brutal use of force by Nigeria police officers seeing several of the protesters arrested, detained, and treated inhumanely.

In response to this, our Legal Associates in Lagos swung into action by providing prompt legal aid to concerned members of the public. Having received complaints via our social media pages, our quick response team was on ground to legally represent the protesters.

The protesters were eventually granted bail in the sum of one hundred thousand Naira each and a responsible surety in the like sum while our lawyers relentlessly worked alongside other CSOs to perfect the bail bond.
